Job Description and Duties

The California Department of Corrections Rehabilitation (CDCR) Headquarters has implemented a new automated system to streamline the hiring process. The Human Resources Technology System (HRTS) is an intuitive, user-friendly system that provides the applicant access to real-time updates throughout the hiring process. HRTS will require new candidates to set up an account, which allows them to track their application’s progress. Through their account portal, candidates will also be able to provide any additional information needed in the hiring process, including  setting up interviews as needed. After the final filing date, applicants will receive an email from DoNotReply@cdcr.ns2cloud.com or DoNotReply@CDCR (depending on the email provider), with direction on creating and/or accessing their account.

The California Department of Corrections & Rehabilitation (CDCR) is looking for an Executive Appointments Analyst(SSA/AGPA) to join the Executive Appointments Unit! 

The Executive Appointments Unit is a human resources office for CDCR’s 200+ Exempt and Career ExecutiveAssignment (CEA) employees. We foster a culture of innovation, creativity, exceptional customer service, as well as diversity and inclusion – we are looking for someone who will champion this culture and help us grow!

This is a newly established role that will act as an on-boarding and off-boarding liaison for executives, ensuring a seamless and welcoming on-boarding experience for new-hires, as well as a smooth off-boarding. This position will be responsible for owning, auditing, and distributing various weekly reports, as well as the monthly executive organizational chart. This role will also be responsible for preparing and facilitating performance salary adjustments for eligible executives, while having the creative autonomy to assist with a wide-range of special projects.


Our ideal candidate will be a whiz in Microsoft Office products, to include Word, Excel, Outlook, and Visio. This person will be passionate about data accuracy and project management, with a high attention to detail. This position is eligible for a hybrid telework schedule for employees who can satisfactorily perform their essential work functions independently and remotely. Specific telework schedules may be discussed further during the interview process. Telework is only available to residents of California.

Working Conditions

Travel (statewide and possibly overnight) to various CDCR sites for conferences, meetings, training, examinations, and recruiting events may be required.

Regular and consistent
 attendance is critical to the successful performance of this position. The incumbent must be regularly available and willing to work the hours necessary to meet the business needs.

Division Overview 
The Executive Appointments Unit (EAU) provides consultative services to CDCR leadership for all Exempt and Career Executive Assignment (CEA) positions which includes establishing new positions, executing strategic recruitment campaigns, administering CEA exams, advising on candidate selection/appointments, and the processing of all compensation-related matters for executive employees.

Candidates new to CDCR or the California Correctional Health Care Services (CCHCS) are required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan Fingerprinting, and Tuberculosis testing prior to appointment followed by department annual Tuberculosis testing/evaluation thereafter.
