Job Description and Duties

Join a diverse leadership team, leading the way toward healthy communities and safe environments for all! The State Dental Director leads the development and implementation of oral health initiatives with a focus on advancing health equity, development and management of oral health programs, collaboration with internal and external partners, including other State Agencies and the Department of Health Care Services’ (DHCS) Medicaid Dental Program, oversight of the analysis and publication of oral health information and communication with the public. The State Dental Director directs and oversees updates to the State Oral Health Plan that addresses the burden of oral disease and health equity, sets oral health goals, evidence-based strategies, and SMART objectives, and aligns with the Department’s mission.

 

The incumbent works under the general direction of the Assistant Deputy Director, Chronic Disease Prevention within the Center for Healthy Communities (CHC). Travel is required both in and out of the state to attend and make presentations at conferences and meet with other oral health programs and national associations.
