Job Description and Duties

Interested in joining a multidisciplinary group of staff and stakeholders making a real impact for wildlife? Would you like to drive applied research used to improve connectivity for fish and wildlife species around the state? Looking for achieving real results on the ground while understanding whether implemented actions had the intended beneficial effects for wildlife? - then this may the job for you!

1. Collaborate with passionate regional staff to implement connectivity solutions for wildlife.

2. Perform high quality applied research to inform future wildlife crossings.

3. Model radio collar and game camera data to understand wildlife behavior
as it pertains to crossing linear infrastructure such as roads.

4. Work with Caltrans and stakeholders to generate connectivity solutions.

Working Conditions

Ability to use a computer keyboard for several hours each day; complete office tasks that require sitting, standing, and walking; attend meetings and conference calls. The position may require field work. Statewide travel will  be required as well as travel of up to three or more hours each way including overnight travel. Work schedules may include early mornings and late nights; hiking over uneven and possibly steep or wet terrain and use an All-Terrain Vehicle; and work in inclement weather.

The position may require the incumbent to wear an official uniform for identification purposes. Must be willing to work long, irregular hours, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends, and work on a computer with a keyboard and mouse.
