Job Description and Duties

This position is Until Filled, but has an initial closing date of February 15, 2025.


Under the general direction of the Supervisor of Residential Programs, security guards will ensure the three sites on the Fremont campus are patrolled and buildings secured on a daily (24/7) basis. These sites include California School for the Blind (CSB), California School for the Deaf (CSDF) and the Diagnostic Center Northern California (DCN).

Duties include Guard and protect State property; control traffic around the Day bus area both morning and afternoon, assist bus drivers in maintaining safety procedures around students, monitor persons on and around the campus for any suspicious and/or illegal activity, contact California Highway Patrol (CHP) with any problem. Attend trainings, staff meetings and any other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions

Willingness to work at nights, weekends, and or holidays. Willingness to drive a golf cart and be outside. This position is on the campuses of California School for the Blind, California School for the Deaf and Diagnostic Center North and is located on approximatley 99 acres.

Department Information

The California School for the Blind provides intensive, disability-specific educational services to students who have primary learning needs related to their visual impairment. The school serves as a statewide resource to provide expertise to Local Education Agencies (LEAs) and families in evidenced-based assessment, specialized curriculum, cutting-edge research and technology, and innovative models of instruction that prepare students for adult life. The California School for the Blind is under the State Special Schools and Services Division.
