Job Description and Duties

This position is posted as Until Filled by will close on February 16, 2025, if not filled prior to that date.


The Teaching Assistant under the direction of the teaching staff, assists in implementing individualized goals and objectives for students, including but to working under the supervision of the classroom teacher, assisting adapted physical education teachers on campus and in the community, providing transportation for students to off-campus sites, shopping, experimental trips, and carry out other assigned duties (break, bus, and lunch duty).

This position can work with students without teacher supervision for up to 90 minutes. This position reports to and is evaluated by the Prinical of Career and Vocational Programs.

CSB is located in Fremont, next to California School for the Deaf, and is located on 25 acress. This position is a permanent, full-time, 10-month position, on-campus position.

New to the state employees will start at the starting range of the salary scale

This position is a 10-month position and works on an academic calendar (August - June). In addition, it has a 3/5 time-based (24 hours a week) and the salary has be adjusted as stated above. The position also receives a $120 a month Recruitment and Retention amount that is added to the paycheck for 10-months.

Department Information

The California School for the Blind provides intensive, disability-specific educational services to students who have primary learning needs related to their visual impairment. The school serves as a statewide resource to provide expertise to Local Education Agencies (LEAs) and families in evidenced-based assessment, specialized curriculum, cutting-edge research and technology, and innovative models of instruction that prepare students for adult life. The California School for the Blind is under the State Special Schools and Services Division.

Special Requirements

Prior to starting employment, this position requires a Tuberculosis (TB) Risk Assessment and or Test (TB), a Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and Department of Justice (DOJ) Fingerprint Clearance.
