Job Description and Duties

Department of Water Resources (DWR) is looking to recruit a talented, enthusiastic, and strong motivated individual to join its SAP Center of Services organization as a SAP Principal Software Engineer. This position is classified as the Information Technology Specialist II, the incumbent will join one of the most developed IT departments in the State of CA state government and will work in State Water Project Analysis Office supporting M&O work. You must be good learner and possess certain skills like critical thinking, decision making, leadership, team building to be successful in this role. Department of Water Resources (DWR) was established in 1956 by the California State Legislature.  We manage California’s water resources, systems, and infrastructure, including the State Water Project, in a responsible sustainable way.

Desirable Qualifications

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:
  • Experience or knowledge of any of the following: 
  • SAP, ERP, or other mission critical, enterprise scale applications.
  • Good understanding of Software Engineering Concepts and methodologies. 
  • Ability to work with Technical Teams, understand Architectural, design documents, software applications, database and related tools.
  • SAP Business Objects or other BI reporting tools.  
  • SAP HANA database environment and design tools.
  • Project Management tools and concepts
  • Excellent leadership skills in solving complex problems, creative thinker, strong analytical reasoning abilities, problem solving abilities and a great written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively complete competing workloads and projects in a timely manner by understanding task criticality and switching priorities.

Work equally well as an individual contributor or as team player and have the ability to share knowledge and train individuals to continuously build the team performance.
