Reporting directly to the District Director, you’ll guide and inspire both staff and Corpsmembers at our Los Angeles Satellite. You’ll set the tone for safety, accountability, and growth—ensuring our teams live out the values of the California Conservation Corps.

 

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead by example—providing daily supervision, mentorship, and direction to staff and Corpsmembers.
  • Champion safety and uphold federal, state, and CCC standards with integrity.
  • Build and manage public service conservation projects that leave lasting impact in local communities.
  • Partner with sponsors, estimate projects, and negotiate agreements that bring vital resources and opportunities to the district.
  • Monitor budgets, track expenditures, and ensure financial accountability.
  • Foster corpsmember growth through training, development plans, performance evaluations, and support.
  • Strengthen community ties—presenting to civic groups, working with local organizations, and developing partnerships that expand CCC’s reach.
  • Be ready to mobilize—coordinating crews and resources for critical emergency response when California needs us most.

Working Conditions

This is a full-time, salaried position based in the City of Los Angeles. Standard work hours are Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., though schedules may vary based on program needs. As part of a statewide emergency response organization, this role requires flexibility and availability outside of regular business hours. The Conservationist Supervisor must be prepared to respond to calls and support field operations during evenings, weekends, and holidays as necessary

Career Consultation
California Conservation Corps is excited to take part in the first agency-wide collaborative physical career center. The career center is located in the heart of Downtown Sacramento in the brand new CNRA headquarters building. Services provided include one-on-one career consultations, application/resume review, career guidance, mock interviews, and tips for applying. 

Days: Open every Tuesday and Thursday (except state holidays)

Special Requirements

  • Class C License – Provide evidence that a commercial class C license with a passenger transport vehicle special endorsement has been obtained from the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV).
  • Pre-employment Drug Test – Pass a urine drug test. In accordance with the Federal Highway Administration regulations (49 CFR, Part 382), persons hired to a class requiring a commercial driver license must take and pass a pre-employment drug test. Please note: per California Code of Regulations 213.5, applicants who fail the drug test pursuant to section 213.4 (h), will be disqualified from the examination in which they are competing and, except as provided by section 213.5 €, shall not be eligible to take any state civil service examination for a class fore which drug testing is required until one year has elapsed from the date the drug test specimen is given.
  • Background Investigation – Undergo fingerprinting and successfully pass a Criminal Offender Record Information check completed by he Department of Justice (DOPJ) which may or may not also include a background check through the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI).
  • Medical Exam – A medical clearance exam is required for this classification.

Experience leading public service or conservation crews is highly valued, along with a strong grasp of safety practices, quality control, and field operations.

 

This is a role for someone who can roll up their sleeves and lead “boots-in-the-dirt,” while also engaging confidently with sponsors, stakeholders, and community partners. They know how to mentor and motivate Corpsmembers and staff, creating an environment of accountability, growth, and inclusion. Their leadership blends resilience, creativity, and compassion—with a deep passion for guiding young people to become future leaders through meaningful conservation work.
