The California Department of Tax and Fee Administration (CDTFA) is searching for a positive and motivated individual who thrives on a great team and embraces modernization. The perfect candidate is also a skilled problem-solver capable of working with a wide-range of software and hardware in a fast-paced environment. Under the general supervision of the Business Services Officer I (BSO I), The Digital Composition Specialist I (DCS I) works in the Print & Distribution Services Section. The incumbent will use a variety of typesetting, page layout, graphic, and scanning software, such as, but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Cloud, and the Print Shop Pro Web-to-Print platform and operates the software on multiple computer platforms. Reviews customer's digital file for print-ready electronic documents such as forms, publications, brochures, and other display materials for digital reproduction for the California Department of Tax and Fee Administration (CDTFA) and the Board of Equalization (BOE), utilizing a wide array of printing and finishing equipment. Produces digital print jobs that require the execution of less complex operating files, merged variable data, and the use of electronic methods to create and manipulate a document to achieve a successful outcome. The position is responsible for developing a product that is compatible with the chosen method/type of publishing/printing process. The DCS I is also expected to maintain high-tech equipment, troubleshoot software/hardware problems, and may work with programming/technician staff to identify, resolve, develop, and implement procedures to maintain file integrity and version control, research new and updated software. This position may be exposed to confidential information, including Federal Tax Information.
Under Government Code 14200, this position may be eligible for partial telework for eligible candidates residing in California. All telework/hybrid schedules require staff to report to the office a minimum number of days per week. Schedules are subject to change.
Currently, per the California Budget Act of 2025, all California Department of Tax and Fee Administration salaries are subject to the provisions of the State of California’s Personal Leave Program.
