Job Description and Duties

Under the supervision of the Nursing Coordinator, the Supervising Registered Nurse (SRN), is responsible for the overall management and supervision of an organized nursing unit on a 24-hour basis in a psychiatric program; responsible for the nursing care and practices of an organized nursing unit or a nursing service; plans, implements, evaluates, and provides for continuity of patient care; works with other disciplines to integrate nursing services to provide a total treatment program; teaches, plans, directs, supervises and evaluates nursing personnel. 
Reviews performance of assigned nursing staff and completes required performance appraisals, identifies training needs and areas for improvement.

Department Information

The California Medical Facility - PSYCHIATRIC INPATIENT PROGRAM (CMF-PIP), Vacaville Psychiatric Program (VPP), is located within CMF/Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.  CMF-PIP/VPP is a 396-bed inpatient psychiatric facility within a state prison serving incarcerated adult males.
