Required Application Package Documents
The following items are required to be submitted with your application. Applicants who do not submit the required items timely may not be considered for this job:
- Current version of the State Examination/Employment Application STD Form 678 (when not applying electronically), or the Electronic State Employment Application through your Applicant Account at www.CalCareers.ca.gov.
All Experience and Education relating to the Minimum Qualifications listed on the Classification Specification should be included to demonstrate how you meet the Minimum Qualifications for the position.

- Statement of Qualifications - Your application package must include a Statement of Qualifications (SOQ). Resumes, cover letters, and other documents do not replace the SOQ. Applicants who fail to submit the required SOQ as outlined below will be disqualified from the selection process.
The SOQ must adhere to the following requirements and must be submitted along with your State Application (STD.678).
• Must be no more than two pages
• Must use 12-point Century Gothic font
• Must have no less than 1” margins
• The page header must include:
o “Statement of Qualifications” as the title
o Your name and the job control (JC) number must be centered under the title
• The SOQ must include responses to the following prompts in the exact order they are listed.
1) Discuss your relevant qualifications and experience for the duties and responsibilities required for the advertised position.
2) Describe how you effectively managed a heavy caseload with tight deadlines and conflicting priorities in your previous roles. Provide specific examples of the tools, techniques, or habits you employed to stay organized and meet your objectives.
3) Provide an example of a time when you successfully turned around a negative customer experience. Walk us through the situation, the steps you took to address the issue, and the outcome.
