In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:
Knowledge of materials, methods and equipment used in the maintenance of highways and highway operations.
Possession of a valid California Class ‘A’ Commercial Driver License (CDL), with a tank vehicle endorsement, and current Medical Card is required prior to appointment in this position.
Employee should possess general knowledge of the many different types of maintenance equipment, and have the ability to, operate, service, and make minor adjustments and repairs to it.; knowledge of safety procedures pertinent to work duties including work area protection, equipment operation, proper lifting, etc; knowledge of the California Vehicle Code as it applies to loading and operation of motor vehicles; knowledge of Caltrans policies for the maintenance and servicing of equipment, and proper documentation thereof.
Must be able to analyze various situations accurately and in a timely fashion, as well as develop sound alternatives when
necessary.
