Job Description and Duties

Metropolitan State Hospital is located in the city of Norwalk.

DSH-Metropolitan is accepting applications for Analyst II, Permanent/Fulltime. Working Title: Analyst II - Department of Protective Services.

Under the direction of the Supervisor I, the Analyst II is responsible for a variety of activities and complex technical analytical staff services assignments such as program evaluation and planning; policy analysis and formulation; systems development; planning, management, and personnel analysis; and continually provide consultative services to management or others. Incumbent must exercise the ability to act independently, remain flexible, reason logically and creatively, and utilize a variety of techniques to resolve more complex problems.

Due to the type of work DPS personnel performs, it is a requirement that before hiring professional support staff, a thorough background investigation shall be conducted to comply with our Department Policy. The background investigation requires active participation from the selected candidate and may take one month to complete if actively participating. The administrative background investigation report shall include the following:

• DOJ/FBI LiveScan

• DMV driving record with Soundex report

• Proof of valid car insurance

• Educational transcripts verification if required by the position minimum requirements

Department Information

Opened in 1916, DSH-Metropolitan State Hospital is in the vibrant community of Norwalk,15 miles east of Los Angeles. To the south are entertainment venues like Disneyland, Knott's Berry Farm, the marinas and beaches of Huntington, Newport and Laguna. To the west are Palos Verdes and Marina Del Rey.

DSH-Metropolitan State Hospital has an open campus within a security perimeter. The hospital operates approximately 826 beds. The commitment categories of patients treated at DSH-Metropolitan: Lanterman-Petris-Short (LPS) Act, Incompetent to Stand Trial (PC 1370), Offenders with Mental Health Disorders (Penal Code Section 2964/2972/2974), Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity (PC 1026).
